    Join us for a chat with artist and designer Anja Riebensahm. The 2022 Oxford Fiber Arts Festival is delighted to be working with Anja for our Tea Towel sewing workshop on Saturday the 22nd, but you can meet her, hear all about her work, her designs, and her passion for beautiful fabrics on Sunday the 16th. We’ll chat about fiber art, visual art, animals, and design.

    We will have an in-person “Sew Your First Tea Towel” class with maker Emily Hawkins as part of the Oxford Fiber Arts Festival on January 23rd.

    Learn how to find unique and custom fabrics outside of big box stores. I will focus on how to use Spoonflower - my favorite source for fabric when I'm making something unique and special. Talking points: searching for themes, looking for alternative colorways, choosing the right scale for the project, uploading your own artwork/designs, and even reaching out to artists about custom work.

    How many of us have projects languishing in the back of the closet because we have lost our way, forgotten or lost the pattern, the needles are gone or stitches dropped. Consider a crafters journal to be the Captain's Log - it can be as detailed or decorative as you wish, but the main purpose is to keep track of what you have done. A love note to your future self, if you will. Having detailed notes has saved many a crafter's bacon, but how do you know what to record? Alissa will provide a template sheet as well as show examples and hints on how to tailor your journal to your own needs.

    Everyone who has knitted for more than just a couple of projects can begin to recognize that there are a few shapes of things that are common: Hats, Scarves, blankets. Using a stitch dictionary (or even online resources) it is entirely within reach of an adventurous beginner or anyone more experienced, to design their own. We will be using online sources in the public domain for this class, in which we will talk about how to read a stitch dictionary, how to select the kind of design best suited for your yarn and project, and how to implement your choice into an actual knitted item.
